1. Sponsored Projects Announces Exciting
Changes-
* Sponsored Projects has a new Proposal Routing Sheet
(dated 10/05) that you can start using now. You can find
the new PRS and signature policy on their web site:
http://www.sps.arizona.edu.
* Sponsored Projects Preaward section will be undergoing
renovations November 7-9. The renovations will make it
difficult for all traffic to get into Sponsored Projects,
but they will have a "detour" set up for those who need to
get items to SPS. Preaward will not be closed during the
renovations, but please be advised that the turn-around
time for proposals will be longer than normal. If you've
got a deadline for November 7-9, please try to get your
proposal through Sponsored Projects prior to November 7.
* A "Frequently Asked Questions" page has been added to the
Sponsored Projects web site, complete with a web form to
send them questions. The page is currently under
construction, but you can see the topics that are already
posted.

2. FSO-Financial Management has announced a
reorganization of the Operating Funds Team as well as the
implementation of the FSO Compliance program. Please see
the 3-D memo at
http://bizcomm.arizona.edu/reorganization.htm for more
information.

3. Electronic Signatures - FSO-Operations
has experienced a high number of mismatched electronic
signatures when approving documents recently as a result of
a number of factors; new employees in Operations, updates
to the CatCard digitized signature database, and name or
staff changes in campus departments. With the increased
emphasis on internal controls, FSO-Operations is asking for
campus help to update and correct these
signatures. For more information please see the 3-D memo at
http://bizcomm.arizona.edu/signatures.htm.

4. Kuali Project Update
-The first Kuali Days were a success - attended by 38
institutions other than the partner schools and 7 Arizona
Subject Matter Experts.
-Functional testing on the Journal Voucher and Transfer of
Funds doc are in full swing, docs will be tested a couple
at a time.
-Usability testing was delayed in October while the mock
screens were finished up, but should be happening in
November.
-Visit the Kuali Update page for more details:

5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - FSO
maintains a database of frequently asked questions. Go to
our FAQ page at
http://www.fso.arizona.edu/fso/fm/faq.asp to review all
questions, search by category or keyword, or ask a question
of your own. Each month
we will feature a recently asked question in our
newsletter.
October's Question: I need to unencumber some P.O.s that
were created in the old fiscal year. How is this
accomplished?
Reply: To remove old encumbrances, you can either make a
copy of the monthly FRS Report, FBM090, Statement of
Account, Open Commitments section or a screen print of FRS
screens 20 or 21, highlighting the encumbrances that should
be removed. Include a note to release the encumbrance with
your name and phone number so Purchasing can contact
you if they have questions. The highlighted reports or
screen prints can be mailed to Purchasing (USA Building,
5th floor) or faxed to 621-5179. If you have additional
questions, please call Purchasing at 626-4000.
