December, 2008 In this edition: 1. Marri Herzenach Retirement Celebration - Today! **************************** Describing Marri’s contributions and dedication throughout the past 28 years is no small task. Marri has held several positions with the UA in areas such as Babcock Business Services, the Bursar’s Office, FSO Administration, and FSO Operations. Her professionalism, dedication and commitment to the ongoing success of the University will leave a lasting impression on the many she touched in these areas and across campus. Marri’s compassion for others, drive for community and campus outreach, and dedication will be greatly missed. As we meet with groups across campus regarding the Mosaic project and the Kuali Financial System (KFS), we are repeatedly asked about Reporting and Data: "What's going to happen to UIS/to ISW?" and Training: "When and how?" The tools that we will be using for both are ready to demo, a little rough around the edges, but a taste of what's to come. We encourage you to join us for a look at the future. The skit "A Day in the Life of a typical KFS User" will be presented in February. For more information on the Mosaic Project and to sign up for newsletters and announcements visit: http://mosaic.arizona.edu/ The Business Community Open Forum is held quarterly and is open to anyone at the University who has an interest in the UA's business policies and processes. http://bizcomm.arizona.edu/BCOF.html **************************** -Kuali Days VII was held November 17 and 18 in Newport Beach. Over 500 people attended and Kuali Days achieved international attendance with participants from Canada, Australia and Africa. Four separate concurrent tracks were held to accommodate Kuali Financial, Kuali Coues Research Administration, Kuali Student and Kuali Rice (Technical Infrastructure). The next Kuali Days will be in the Spring, location to be determined. Presentations from several of the sessions are available at: http://kuali.org/kd/program.html Development - -Release 3.0 modules Accounts Receivable, Capital Assets, Budget Construction and Effort Reporting have entered Quality Assurance (QA) - which means functionality is complete and testing is underway. -The enhanced Purchasing/AP module has also entered into QA - enhancements include an integration with SciQuest aka Arizona Buyways, a Receiving Module and other Purchasing enhancements. -The biggest change of all in the new development is a change in the way users and workgroups and workflow rules will be implemented. Development is nearly complete on this large "under the hood" change and starting mid-December, will be integrated with the other modules. Implementation -The KFS Implementation Business System Analysts are meeting with Business Process Owners - the current focus is on central administration, department processes will be addressed early next year. -A group of 30+ KFS testers started training and learning KFS 2.2 and are meeting weekly in the Kuali Testing lab - another 15 have signed up to start helping in January. Our goal is to have around 60 departmental testers to test Release 3.0 on Monday and Tuesday and to have Central Administration come in at the end of the week to complete the process and to have everyone using the new warehouse to review reports and data. -To learn more: **************************** Your Question: The person in our department responsible for granting access to the various ISW reports has left the University.
