7.30 EQUIPMENT USE AND CONDITION REVIEW

PURPOSE: To provide direction to university departments to review the use and condition of university inventorial equipment in their possession and control.
AUTHORITY: Powers and duties of the University President, ABOR Policy 3-801 and 3-802

POLICY: University departments are responsible for annually reviewing the utilization level of inventorial equipment in their custody which was purchased with federal dollars or federally titled and to identify obsolete, dilapidated, broken, inoperable, excess, idle, and under utilized, completeness of equipment utilization records, and equipment condition.

University departments are to keep their offices, lecture rooms, laboratories, research facilities and storage areas free of excess, broken, dilapidated and surplus equipment.

    1. Annually review the utilization level of departmental equipment and identify obsolete, dilapidated, broken, inoperable, excess, idle , and under utilized equipment, and its condition.

    2. Modify the condition field in FFX Screen 535 to state the current condition of the equipment.

    3. For obsolete, dilapidated, broken, inoperable, excess, idle, and under utilized equipment, follow disposal and re-utilization procedures in section 7-Equipment Use.
    CONDITION CODES:
      EX - Excllent GD - Good
      FR - Fair PR - Poor
      UD - UndeterminedOD - Obsolete, subject to disposal
